Mechanical Design Engineer

Blue Currents designs and builds containerized water and power systems that operate at the point of need, and we deploy them ourselves. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll be at the center of that work, turning Trident from a fully specified concept into hardware that ships and holds up in the field.

The Role
You'll develop Trident's mechanical systems from concept through fabrication, working across enclosure design, solar and battery integration, water treatment components, and structural layout. This is hands-on engineering: you'll be at the CAD station as often as you're on the shop floor, resolving the details that separate a spec sheet from a working unit.

What You'll Do
Design and detail components for containerized deployment, produce fabrication-ready drawings and assemblies, and work directly with fabrication partners to move Trident 1 from pre-build to production. You'll own design decisions from first prototype through field deployment and iterate as real-world conditions demand.

What You'll Bring
Several years of hands-on mechanical design experience, ideally with enclosures, off-grid power systems, or fluid handling. You're comfortable owning a system end to end and know the difference between a design that works on paper and one that holds up on a dock in the Caribbean through hurricane season.

Bonus Points
Experience with solar and battery system integration, marine or corrosion-resistant design, or water filtration hardware. Familiarity with containerized or modular systems is a real plus.
